Matt Cutts gives us Google’s official position on SEO (search engine optimisation).
We came across this post on Search Engine Journal answering with a video to the question “does Google consider SEO to be spam”?
For sure we would love to know the opinion of Google on our profession, so we jumped on the link. Here is the video.

Main points to be highlighted from this video:
Matt Cutts says SEO is beneficial to search engines because it actually helps them find the right pages and the best results for a query.
He of course is referring to white hat SEO and specifically, to on-page SEO practices that will provide a better experience for a user of a website (speed, ergonomic site navigation, keyword optimisation to improve understanding of a topic, etc.).
He doesn’t actually talk much about off-page optimisation and goes straight to the topic of black-hat SEO, the extreme opposite of white-hat by citing the usual examples of keyword stuffing, cloaking, etc.
So, in the end, we feel it is a mild set of statements but still, it goes to show the importance for any person seeking SEO services to be explained by their SEO expert, what techniques are being implemented and for what purposes.
Transparency is a must when you seek a professional search engine optimisation services firm.
